How do you get the most out of your online language session?
A few years ago you might not have considered an online course. But nowadays the switch to online is obvious to everyone. This also applies to language courses.
At Squidll we are fully committed to online classes because we want to lower the barriers to improving or maintaining language proficiency as much as possible.
Online means more flexibility: you follow a session where and when you want to. And above all, you can work with your preferred language coach regardless of your location. But how do you best prepare for your online session?
We'd like to give you some tips before you start on Squidll:
1. Use the right equipment
A smooth online session starts with the right equipment.
For optimal sound a headset is the best, but you can certainly use the earphones of your smartphone too.
We do not recommend using a tablet or smartphone because certain applications may not work properly or you may only be able to see part of the screen.
A computer or laptop with a webcam is therefore the best option for your session.
2. Be on time
Flexibility is one of the advantages of our online sessions. But out of respect for your coach it is important you stick to the timing of your session. Be on time so that no one has to wait and no precious minutes are lost.
3. Communicate clearly
An online session requires a slightly different approach to a classic classroom training. Your coach will of course let you know how you can achieve the best interaction during your session. But do not hesitate to ask questions and give input yourself.
Show your coach that you actively participate and pay attention, and your session will be a success.
4. Focus on your session
During your session with your coach you want as few distractions as possible. Why? Because online session require a higher level of concentration.
Therefore, choose a quiet setting where you will not be disturbed, turn off e-mail alerts and other notifications and put your mobile phone aside so you will not be distracted.
